Clubs’ Championships Results.
Big Day for N.I Riding Clubs.
Northern Ireland Riding Clubs held their Indoor Individual
Championships at Danescroft by kind permission of Breda and George Stewart
last Saturday. A testing championship course was designed and built by
Ray Buchanan using new fences including new fillers, which will become
familiar to the regulars to Danescroft in the future.
At the closing date there were less than 90 entries but the organiser
extended the closing date with the result that almost 200 entries were
received by the later date.
Jumping started at 9.40a.m and continued until almost 6.00p.m. At one
time the car park had almost reached capacity requiring some very clever
parking for later drivers.
Such was the excitement the many spectators were caught up in the quest
for double clear rounds, which were greeted by loud cheering and well-deserved
applause.
Thanks are due to the many helpers on the day, volunteers who support
the riding clubs and without whom the championships could not take place.
A big ‘thank-you’ also to our two Senior National judges,
Safety Officer Dean Cotton and Paul Johnston who co-ordinated the helpers
rota.
